Pauline Hulda Wilkowske Reaugh, born 15 September 1877, in Gibson, Wisconsin, was one of seventeen children of German immigrant August Wilkowske and his second wife, Friedericke Richter Wilkowske, also an immigrant from Germany. Her father was a farmer who served in the Civil War. Pauline enlisted into the Army nurse corps in March 1918 and served as a Red Cross nurse in the war. She also participated in Polish and Serbian relief efforts in the early 1920s[i], returning to the United States in March of 1923.[ii] According to her obituary she was wounded while in service [iii] and the 1930 census shows her as a patient at Ft. Bayard, New Mexico.

She was a lifelong member of Chapter No. 34 of the Eastern Star. In 1934 she was married in Denver to Henry Thomas Reaugh. Following her husband’s death in 1948 she moved to Albuquerque where she lived until her death in 19689 following a long illness.
