PFC Arsenio Salazar was the son of Lazaro and Gregorita Salazar of El Guache, New Mexico.1  He served in the Southern Philippines campaign, and Ryukyus campaign the last major battle of World War II where its estimated 48,193 military personnel were killed, wounded, or missing in the fight to secure the island.  He was given a disability discharge in 1945 following the battle due to battle related wounds.2
