Charles F. Buckley was born in Great Britain in 1841. His family immigrated to the US in 1843, departing Liverpool and arriving at Ellis Island on May 1, 1843 on the Samuel Hicks. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in the summer of 1863 at the age of 23 while living in the 24th Congressional District in Pennsylvania. He was listed as a Laborer and married when drafted into military service. At the time of his death he served as a Private in F Company of the 15th U.S. Infantry. His cause of death is listed as poisoning by opium.
