Spec 4 US Army Frank Dodge Madrid was killed during the Battle at Hill 474 on January 28, 1970, while trying to recover the bodies of his fallen comrades.1 Madrid was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, with Combat Distinguishing Device (V), for his exemplary gallantry in action. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Merit for his sustained meritorious service.[1] He was only 26 years old. New Mexico Highlands University honored him by naming the “Sala de Madrid” a multipurpose educational building in his honor where his picture is honorably displayed.2
