During World War II, Genevieve Patricia “Pat” Rice enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC).1 Rice served in New Guinea and the Philippines as a Classification and Personnel Specialist.1 During her service, Rice was awarded two campaign medals: a good conduct medal and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a bronze star.1
Rice was born in Douglas, Arizona on March 3, 1922 to Mary Genevieve Trotter and Frederick Rice.2 Prior to attending college at the University of the Pacific, Rice lived in California.1 Upon graduating, she enlisted in the WAC.1 After the war, Rice worked for the State of California as a Personnel Specialist.1 Upon retirement, she moved to New Mexico.1 Rice passed away September 29, 2013 at the age of 91.1
