Lance Corporal Ignacio Barela

Birth: February 01, 1947  Alamogordo, New Mexico
Death: June 02, 1967 Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam

LCpl Ignacio Barela was born in Alamogordo New Mexico the son of Jose D. and Manuel Barela. He attended Alamogordo high School.¹  Ignacio Barela arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He was wounded by friendly fire on hill 117 near Con Thein 25 May 1967 and died of his wounds on 2 June 1967. He was 20 years old.²
