PFC Louis Pino Tellez was the son of Manuel Tellez of Chihuahua Mexico and Portriero “Julia” Pino of Gila, Grant County, New Mexico. PFC Tellez was born in the small mining town of Mentmore New Mexico he enlisted in US Army 1942 because he wanted to do his part in the war. He served in South East Pacific theater in jungles and islands of Philippines, New Guinea and China. On his return from the war he was an instrumental and active participant in the National and New Mexico Gi Forum serving as National and State commanders working for the betterment of the Mexican American community.1
