Margaret Buday Summers enlisted in the Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II. 1 She was born in Petoskey, Michigan to Katharina Rajniak and John Buday. 2 Both of her parents were immigrants from Hungary, arriving in the United States in 1922. 3 She attended Lincoln High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 4 In 1940, the family was living in Cook Island, Illinois. 5 In September of 1945, she married James B. Summers Sr. in Arlington, Virginia. 1, 6 They had seven children. 1, 2 She had lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Estancia, New Mexico. 2
