Martha Connelly (Proudfoot) enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) in August of 1943 and served until 1945. 1 She was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, working as a TEC5 in the 9301 Technical Service Unit. 2
Connelly was born on August 8, 1922, to William W. and Madge Fornash Connolly of Raymondville, Missouri. 3 She met her husband, Chester L. Proudfoot at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. 2 Following discharge from the military, the couple moved to Spenard, Alaska where they spent the next 46 years. 2 In 1996 they moved to Rio Rancho New Mexico. 2 Over sixteen years, Connelly was a foster parent to twenty-one special needs children. 2 She enjoyed fishing on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska during the summer months, where they spent the next 46 years. 2 In 1996, they, as well as gardening, sewing, and traveling. 2
