Corporal Roy “Ray” R Foghorn

Roy “Ray” Foghorn was born November 27, 1924 in Toadlena, NM to Oliver ‘Tseh Nah Bilth Ni Nez’ and Virginia Deal Foghorn.1, 2 Foghorn enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on March 26, 1943.1 He served as a Navajo Code Talker during World War II until he was discharged on December 30, 1945.1 The Code Talkers were tasked with transmitting encoded messages during the Pacific War.3 In January 1949, Foghorn married Cecilia Montoya.4 He died July 27, 1999, and in 2001, Foghorn was posthumously awarded the Congressional Silver Medal.2, 5
