Y.B. Rowdy represents the historical facts of the territorial period of New Mexico, and Arizona. Rowdy was from the Yavapai Tribe, who were from Arizona. Rowdy began his military career in 1890, as a “Indian Scout.”1

Rowdy’s Tribe, the Yavapai were mortal enemies with the Apache’s who had migrated into the Area around 1500.2 When presented with the opportunity to battle his Apache enemies, Rowdy enlisted into the US Army.  His bravery under fire at the Cherry Creek battle in Arizona (1890) is what earned him the US. Congressional Medal of Honor. Rowdy passed away in 1893, his remains were relocated to Santa Fe National Cemetery in 1907.3
